4/19/24 Monetize Your Book Tip 5: Freedom, Finances, or Fame?

Hi, Reader! When focusing on monetizing your book, you'll want to be careful which of the three F's you put at the top of your list. Today's Tip 5 is Freedom, Finances, or Fame? This is so important, it is a direct, unedited excerpt from the book. When monetizing your book, in addition to ELF, there are three Fs to consider. Really, this applies to building your business and, ultimately, your empire. I want a business and empire I own, not one that owns me. I don’t want to have to do anything. Therefore, one of my highest values is freedom. Of the three, freedom, finances, and fame, freedom is number one by a landslide. Even greater than any desire I have for money, I value freedom. Fame ranks a distant third. You get to decide which order you rank them in: 1. Freedom 2. Finances 3. Fame Or: 1. Finances 2. Freedom 3. Fame I’ll caution you against putting fame first (or even second). I’ve seen many people sacrifice their freedom and finances for fame. While they have a lot of name and face recognition, they still struggle financially, and certainly don’t have a ton of freedom. I’ve built my business around having time and money freedom by intentionally building income streams that don’t require a lot of time once I’ve put them in place—primarily books and courses, but also partnerships, certifications, referral and affiliate opportunities, and more. I’ve shared them all in this book, with insight and information (as well as processes, procedures, and cautions) so you can decide which ones might work best for you. You may need to rank finances higher than freedom for a period of time, with the goal of switching them at some point. I’ve also seen my peers sacrifice their freedom for a buck or two, only to realize they didn’t get the outcome they truly wanted. I mention this here because once you start to see some of the possibilities, you might want to do them all. I get it. Building income streams is kinda the best. You’ll avoid unnecessary pain and suffering when you’ve got clarity before you choose. Before you read any further, rank your Fs. Their order will help you decide which stream fits the best.
